Bob McQuillen and old New EnglandBob McQuillen and Old New England

Offering: Music

Although Deanna Styles, Bob McQuillen, and Jane Orzechowski were no strangers to each other, having previously played together on occasion, it was not until 1992 that a Declaration of Dependence was issued, and they played their “World Premiere” first dance as Old New England in Francestown’s Town Hall on November 14 of that year.

The band combines driving rhythms with a solid beat, tight sound and lively melodies, and features contemporary and traditional tunes with exciting two-part harmonies created by Jane and Deanna.

Pear Tree Studio     www.marcyschepker.com

Offering: Tapestries, Soft Toys

Pear Tree Studio is a sunny space in a New Hampshire barn where a small group of artists support each other in creative and productive work. The barn houses a cottage industry. We use all recycled raw materials.  Central to our lives and work is the knowledge that each one of us is an artist, a craftsperson, and an apprentice in our own capacity, and each of us has special gifts and needs. Working in our Studio is a continual balance of each person’s creativity with the energy we all draw from working together. We believe this process to be vital to being a craftsperson, and also important as a social model. We hope that some of the happiness this gives us is visible in our work.

Pear Tree Studio owner, Marcy Schepker also offers tapestry workshops, and is a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen and is on the roster of the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.

Jeff Raymond - Woodturner - Pownal, Maine

Offering: Woodworking

Jeff grew up on the coast of Maine but spent many of his summers on Lake Sunapee and many holidays in Keene, NH and Guilford, VT with family. Traveling around Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, Jeff spent a fair amount of time poking about old farm fields, woodlots, and mill sites, finding delight in the decaying remnants of our rural past. Now he draws insight and inspiration from those experiences to develop ideas as he turns wood and creates granite and iron sculpture. We are offering some of his turnings here. Working on a Oneway Lathe with cherry, various burl wood and a few sticks of promising firewood, Jeff is exploring the various forms of "round". Not always content to accept the topology of a piece as it comes from the lathe, he often carves a piece further to develop the final shape of an item.

Scents of New England Candle Co.   www.scentsofnewenglandcandles.com

Offering: Candles, Soaps & Lotions

Scents of New England Candle Co., with owner Christine Sullivan, is based in Raymond New Hampshire. The company was formed over ten years ago by her sister Terry, a local artist formerly of Greenville Maine. Christine took over production of the candles five years ago.

Christine did a little fine tuning to the candle line and came up with her own wax formulation which allows for a wonderfully scented candle that she guarantees will burn clean from the inside of the jar leaving no wasted wax.  She uses only the highest quality fragrance oils available, lead-free wicks, and has omitted any toxic dyes. Three years ago Christine also added a line of sundries to her line using quality natural ingredients.

Hans Schepker - Glass & GeometryHans Schepker - Glass & Geometry   www.hansschepker.com

Offering: Stained Glass

Hans Schepker was born and raised in Germany. Exposure to various and sundry crafts and trades during his formative years fostered skill and interest in mechanics and the working in wood and textiles. The training as electronics engineer rounded this out. Geometry always held a high position in his interests. After the work for the defense industry there was the “soft” geometry of custom made garments. Nine years of kite design and manufacture put geometry into the sky. Solid geometry was practiced in teaching at Waldorf Schools across the country and Germany. Ever changing constellations of paper forms float from the ceilings in his house. Finally he is putting light bulbs into those same and other forms, now made of glass, illuminating private, corporate and public spaces.

Town Line Sugar House Maple SyrupTown Line Sugar House

Offering: Maple Syrup

Mike Tarr, Nelson NH, and Brian Tarr, Harrisville, NH, have been producing maple syrup at their sugar house for 24 years. The amount of syrup available for sale in any given year is strictly up to Mother Nature, but whatever they have is definitely worth the price. And, they boil the sap the ‘old fashioned way’, strictly cordwood fed fires for the evaporators. No oil-fired burners at Town Line Sugar House to taint the taste of the syrup.
